The Palazzo Chiericati has been the historic home of the Civic Museum since 1855 and now houses the city's collections of paintings, sculptures and applied arts from the thirteenth to the twentieth centuries.

A masterpiece of Palladio's early maturity (1550), the building not only has decorations from that period but also holds important documents on Vicenza's art history.

The Museum of Palazzo Chiericati reopened the Palladian wing on December 2013, after the restoration works.

On the main floor, the visitor can enjoy the works of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, contemporary to the construction of the building.

The attic hosts the Bequest of Marquis Giuseppe Roi: his personal collection of paintings, drawings and engravings from the fifteenth to the twentieth century, set in a charming display of house-museum.

On the ground floor the visitor can admire, in a temporary exhibition, a selection of masterpieces of the collection not currently on display: Paolo Veneziano, Memling, Montagna, Fogolino, Sansovino, Tintoretto, Maffei and Pittoni.

In the basement are located the works donated to the museum by the sculptor Nereo Quagliato.

At the end of a two years long refurbishing, Palazzo Chiericati, Vicenza's Art Museum, is a true gem you shouldn't miss if you love italian Art. The new contemporary set up gives to the palladian palace breath, space, light. You'll find painting and sculpture masterpieces from 1200 to 1600, mixed with notes about architecture and the roman old history of... More

Only got to view this from the outside, but another winner from Palladio. Beautifully proportioned and elegant. Although a large building it doesn't seem to overwhelm the fronting property. One of many attractions in the heart of this city.

the building is opposite the Teatro Olimpico. if you decide to visit the Teatro (which you should) easiest is to buy a Vicenza ticket which allows you to enter in most historical buildings and museums in the city among which the Palazzo chiericati. if you don't do this: the building in itself is worth seeing from the outside and in... Palazzo Chiericati is an elegant building by famous architect Andrea Palladio. Doric columns on the ground floor and ionic ones on the piano nobile, graceful loggias and a roofline decorated by statuary give an airy rhythm to this fine example of Palladian architecture. Walking around Vicenza,a graceful UNESCO heritage site, is a real pleasure. If you are short on time... More

At the time of our visit museum was partially under construction and therefore not much to see I imagine. Architecture is very impressive. We like a couple of rooms dedicated to art and history, modern art exhibits were not as exciting. We got city museum card that included Teatro Olimpico, this museum and a few others and it was a... I'm not normally into art museums; however, this came as part of a "bundle package" when I went into the Teatro Olympico. I was pleasently surprised; it was my 2nd favorite place in Vicenza. Very interesting collection of paintings and sculptures.

We visited this Civic Art Gallery towards the end of a splendid day in Vicenza. There was only one friendly older lady on the first floor who was pleasant and helpful. We had one younger woman follow us around the exhibits as if we were thieves. I was totally bemused, this doesn't happen in London! Another woman pushed us out... More

This building is on the Palladian tour and is an imposing building in the Palazzo Chiericati. The statues which appear on the top of the building are imposing and add to the total grandeur.
