We paid 4 euros each to climb to the top of the Bell Tower and Astronomical Clock - 232 steps according to another climber. Wonderful views of Messina and interesting to see the back of the mechanical statues along the way. We arrived too late...More

The noon show is very interesting as you see the various components move and the sound that accompanies the show - it lasts for about 12 minutes and is much longer than other clocks around the world. So its unique and well worth in viewing.

The Bell Tower in the town square is a remarkable sight. The statues and sculptures are amazing works of art from a past era. If you are able to be here at noon there is a musical event that you will never forget.

Piazza gets very crowded about 30 minutes before noon. Not a lot of spots to sit, especially if you want to be in the shade and still have a view of the tower. Lots of vendors selling all sorts of touristy, plastic trinkets. Nonetheless, it...More
