I found the gardens very disappointing. I thought given the climate that they would have been colourful. There was very little plants in flower and in fact i doubt if there were many if it was the correct season. Area of the gardens looked neglected and it appeared that a lack of money was available to maintain them. There were... More

My wife and I visited the botanical gardens in Palermo during a two-week vacation in Sicily. There is a Euro 5 entry fee. The gardens are very mature with massive palms and other trees. However, it is not as well-groomed or exotic as many other botanical gardens that we have visited around the world, so for us was not really... More

We have been to some truly wonderful gardens in italy but this garden is certainly not one of them. There are some nice trees and it is cool hence the one star but it is totally neglected with no signs of any upkeep. Many plants dying and paths strewn with dead plant material and weeds everywhere not to mention rotting... More

For me it was a different experience to visit Orto Botanico di Palermo. I have visited a lot of botanic gardens, most of them are filled with flowers, here it was like stepping in some kind of jungle - and I really liked it. From the banan tree with fruits and a flower I have never seen before, to the... More

This garden is a must when you have had your fill of wonderful churches. I have never seen such wonderful trees with endless twisting branches , a lake with a wooden little hut and likes and much more. A peaceful haven away from the bustle of palermo

Escaping the frenetic noise of Palermo we spent a couple of quiet hours in the gardens - and so interesting. Though not up to the likes of Kew the trees, shrubs & bamboo plantations were extraordinarily interesting. Brilliant place to visit to get away from the noise!

The expected range of trees was there - bombax, jacaranda and so on - and we caught a few trees in flower, as we had hoped. Sicily is poor so we excused the untidiness caused by dropped leaves and so on though these were so many that it suggested nobody ever did any tidying. The place was peaceful if you... More

This garden may provide an oasis of peace and beauty for city dwellers of Palermo but as a tourist to the area I thought that the visit was not worth the entrance fee. This had obviously been a well planned garden at sometime but it has not been maintained. No sign of anyone working anywhere in the grounds and everywhere... More

After a long walk through the grim dock area we finally reached the botanical gardens to find they were in a very sad neglected state throughout. The cacti display was good with species from many countries but in general terms flower beds and lawns were neglected and full of weeds and attending gardeners were not to be seen. Damaged trees...
