Don't go here on a hot day. Even the newly restored areas didn't have air conditioning. There was one room upstairs that was tolerable. However, the great pieces are interesting, including the magnificent Triumph of Death, the Messina painting and the wonderful bust by Laurana....More

This Palazzo is the seat of the Galleria Regionale della Sicilia; the regional art gallery. It has some good paintings including the famous Triofo della Morte by an unknown artist. This fresco has been restored but important parts of the image have crumbled away. There...More

The building itself is interesting but far from outstanding. The important part is the art collection, which is quite beautiful but, if you're not a huge fan of medieval art, you can live without visiting this place. Otherwise, there are some impressive works of art...More

The museum's quarters in the 15th c. Palazzo Abatellis themselves are worth noting, as are transitional gothic-renaissance sculptures, but there are two outstanding works not to be missed by any art lover: Antonello da Messina's madonna of the annunciation and the mid-15th c. (anonymous) fresco...More

Sicily was the second stop on a Mediterranean cruise. It was interesting to go here and see older people dressed up in suit and drinking espresso at 11:00 am around the town square. Rich in history dating back thousands of years was a good visit.

Not only is this collection of the highest quality and of the best taste, it's also beautifully displayed in a 15th-century palazzo skillfully restored under the great Carlo Scarpa. The sculpted busts are particularly striking, with elegant monochromatic background further highlighting their breathtaking grace. Works...More

Well worth visiting this fine collection of work by Sicilian artists from the Middle Ages to the eighteenth century, all housed in a 15th century building worthy of a visit in itself, viz Palazzo Abatellis. The 'piece de resistance' is probably the magnificent fresco 'Triunfo...More
