I visited with 4 children ranging in age from 8 to 14 (a range of native speakers of German, English and Italian) and thanks to the amazingly passionate and patient guides, Angelo and Antonio, our visit to Palazzo Abatellis was fabulous. They made our time there both fascinating and 'interactive', as they managed to bring to life the building, the paintings and the history. Their enthusiasm and passion came through at every stage as they encouraged the kids to ask questions, look more closely and immerse themselves in what the Palazzo had once been. A wonderfully enlightening and unexpectedly entertaining visit! Highly recommended!

The exhibition of paintings of Antonello da Messina finishes in February 2019. It is superb - he is painter who brings the soul of a portrait to the viewer. He introduced into Italy the Dutch style of posture (half profile), hues and oil painting techniques. Fortunately the most impressive of all - a small painting Virgin Annunciate lives in Palazzo permanently. Worth to see on it's own... I am not sure after seeing that small painting, it might just be on the top of the best ever made paintings.
