This part of the archeological site was very peaceful. It provided us with a cool walk through the trees and gardens to the caves further on down the pathway. As part of the overall experience it was a good place to chill out after the...More

Roman Amphitheatres can be found everywhere in Europe and in all of them you can enter it and walk around. Why is this, not very spectacular, specimen not accessible? The same holds true for the Altar of Hieron II.

The park has been built in the remains of the old stone quarries in Neapolis. It was nice to stroll around the shady paths and enjoy the plants and flowers, but most of the paths were closed due to the weather.

The area actually give access to two other caves but these are closed off at the moment ( rock fall?) The park and garden is nevertheless attractive and a good place for a shady - cooler picnic lunch! Watch out for mosquitoes in October however.

A nice quarry that has plants and trees and flowers growing where slaves once cut stone...a nice respite from the overbearing sun and brutal July heat when you visit this archeological park but nothing crazy special here.

The quarries were where the stone was cut to create the temple and theatre in Siracusa. The caves created are closed except for the Ear of Dionysius so its really just a pleasant walk apart from the ear.
