amazing outside, amazing inside, worth the 2 Euro entry price. The whole history of the city's architectural styles in one building

Very little actual information inside but very interesting if you want to play architectural detective......Much of the church is Byzantine but built within the columns of an ancient Greek temple....with one of those fussy Baroque facades added recently.....Worth a peek!

not a great fan of the baroc, but this was mot overblown, full out baroque architecture, quite quiet, eith the inclusion of ancient greek columns the main highlight

The square in front of here is the central focus of locals and tourists on Sunday mornings.. we couldn't go in, there was a service going on. The center of religious life in Ortygia you should see it and the square around it .. the...More

This cathedral has a grand facade but not sure if it warranted the entry fee when we have visited far better cathedrals in churches in Sicily where there was no admission charge.

The church is amazing due to the fact that it 's built on ancient temple - which is partially visible. The old columns appearance and the size of the ancient temple is visible from outside as well as from inside.

It’s like most large cathedrals but this one lacks atmosphere and art. There are others more worthy of a long visit. Redeeming feature is its presence in the middle of a beautiful piazza that has many other interesting places to see and explore.

It's a great mix of styles and material from different periods. Enjoy some gelato in the steps, which face a nice piazza.

A very ancient building which has been added to over the years. Lofty and beautiful. There was a wedding on when we visited so it was beautifully decked with flowers and we watched all the guest arriving in their finery. Situated in the lovely Piazza...More
