Our One-Day Cooking Class is informal, fun and hands-on. The class taught in English and designed around a typical Tuscan meal with fresh local in season ingredients. You will start the full day course by meeting the instructor, Shirley Ofria at a café in the historic center of Cortona. Over a typical Tuscan breakfast of cappuccino and pastry, you will choose from our recipe booklet what you want to prepare. After breakfast and menu planning, you will go to the various markets to collect all the necessary ingredients. When you finish with the shopping, it’s off to our home in San Egidio, just ten minutes above the wall surrounding historic Cortona. When you arrive at the house, the aprons go on and the work begins. You will start by making appetizers that will later serve as a light lunch break. After lunch, it’s back to work to start on the first course, second course, side dishes and of course desert. When everything is ready you will sit down to enjoy and critique your creations. The meal can be served inside or out, weather permitting. The course includes; menu planning, shopping, breakfast, lunch, dinner (all food and wine) and the recipe booklet. Dietary restrictions are welcome and if there is something specific you want to do, please contact us several day in advance of your class day.

This was the consummate Tuscan day: meet at a cafe for coffee, choose a menu for lunch & dinner, go to the local markets and butcher to buy fresh ingredients and then cook, eat and drink wine at the beautiful farmhouse of a welcoming couple, Shirley & Chuck. We had a terrific day learning about traditional Tuscan dishes, and how... More

We had a truly amazing experience doing the cooking class with Shirley. We researched a lot before we booked, and I can say without any doubt that it's worth every penny. There are plenty of other offers, but Shirley was informative, genuinely knowledgeable and helpful. We saw some other people said they were disappointed because Shirley wasn't Italian. Well, we... After choosing our dishes to make with Shirley, we were off to the the local Cortona markets to buy ingredients. So fun to check out the markets and get to buy vegetables that we don't get at home. We went to Chuck and Shirley's beautiful farmhouse to cook--unbelievable setting with gorgeous views. Their open kitchen set up well for the... More

An absolutely fabulous experience with the cooking, the atmosphere, and new friends! Such wonderful recipes we can actually make at home! Shirley truly loves what she does and takes the time to share her knowledge and talent with cooks of all levels. Strongly recommend for a truly intimate experience.

My husband booked this class for just the two of us on our honeymoon. We had a lot of fun and cooked sooo many different dishes! They were not too complicated, which was great for me since I don't cook a ton. I feel like I learned a lot of basic skills that I will take home with me. Shirley... More

My husband and I were lucky to have booked the class solo so we were really able to cater the day based on our own appetite. Shirley was very informative, insightful, and even helped my husband recreate a meal he had two years ago in the Almafi coast. I really appreciated the challenges she presented us and helped us master... More

I had the privilege of taking a 4 hour cooking class with Simonetta. This was the highlight of my trip. She was engaging and taught me more authentic ways to make Italian dishes. I will visit again the next time I am in Tuscany to learn more of her culinary secrets!

Our one day cooking with Shirley was worth our trip to Tuscany. We loved everything about it from shopping in the morning and experiencing Cortona (a town we wished we had stayed in), to our conversations with Shirley, to our newly gained skills in the kitchen. Every meal that we cooked under Shirley's guidance was absolutely delicious and we can't... More
