This Piazza is at the top of the escalators/ steps from the main car park and the way into Cortona for most people arriving by car. The views across the plain and to Lago Trasemino are stunning, so it is popular spot. There is an excellent gelataria close by with a wide range of flavours available.

A thoroughly splendid afternoon with family climbing to the very top of the mountain in Cortona with a steep descent back to the Garabaldi Avenue for drinks and relaxation on a very hot early August afternoon-lovely leather goods -great buzz about it. Not to be missed if you are travelling nearby

Sit there and feel in the air the life of Cortona and the people walking by and talking. Watch life goes on. Do not rush and enjoy it

We loved the view from Piazza Garibaldi. It is one of the best views overlooking the countryside below Cortona.

Cortona is really so breathtaking that seeing the panorama for this Piazza is just the icing on the cake...Just lovely, looming clouds and ancient vistas...can't get much better.

Cortona is crowded, and it is also a typical beauty of a Tuscan town. I will long remember the plaza and the view from the town wall. I will also remember the local restaurants trying to sell us the cheap "tourist wine" at inflated prices and some of the locals irritation with the waves of tourists. Still, I'd go back.... More

At the main entry to this wonderful mountaintop town in Tuscany sits the Piazza Garibaldi. Stop and take in the amazing views of Camucia below and the wider expanses across to Lake Trasimeno and Montepulciano in the distance. Truly magnificent. Then walk down the main street into the Piazza della Repubblica and take in the ambience of this wonderful part... More

Perched on the edge of the town with vistas as far as Lake Trasimeno, the Piazza fails miserably in the sense that it loses it charm to tons of delivery trucks coming and going, cars parked, vendors....and more. It is also located on a busy intersection of roads that goes up, down, left and right. Not quite the piazza that... More
