The small church of Santa Felicita was used by the Medici family dukes and holds the Mannerist artist Pontormo's masterpiece, "The Deposition." The unusual colors, exaggerated poses and expressive portraits are an unforgettable theatrical scene..

quiet church but don't miss the Medici balcony at the rear of the church which the family were able to access via the Vasari corridor in order to hear mass in this quite unassuming church.

We visited this church after we were able to see the Medici balcony on our tour of the Vasari corridor. The visit was free but closed about 15 minutes after our arrival, perhaps for lunch. If you are in the area, do drop in to visit....More

Enclosed as it is in a locked chapel, visible only through iron railings, I feel that I have never really been able to experience this important Mannerist work in anything like an enjoyable way. I don't know why it has to be exhibited thus and...More

We attended Sunday Mass here and it gave the visit a different context than what we usually feel when we visit churches. This is a living church with 400 years of worship history. Very beautiful and vibrant chapels and paintings.

Yet another wonderful church in Florence. Part of the fun of our stay was hunting down all these churches - there are so many and they are all different in their own way. This one is well worth looking at.

The Church of Santa Felicita is a lovely old (400 years) church. Located at the Piazza Santa Felicita, it is a peaceful sanctuary that is home to some lovely frescoes and paintings. Nice!

The original church dates from around 400 making it the second oldest religious site in Florence. Another version was constructed in the 11th C. but what you see today largely dates from 1739 and is located on the Piazza Santa Felicita just across the Ponte...More

Do visit this church to see gorgeous frescoes by Pontormo! The frescoes are in a chapel to the right as one enters the church. Don't miss this church near the Ponte Vecchio. Do take a Euro coin to insert into a machine nearby to illuminate...More

This church is worth the visit just to see the painting but has many other qualities too. Beware of the opening hours.
