We stopped in this church instead of the Duomo, as it was less crowded and less expensive, and were not disappointed. They have a great collection of Renaissance art and tombs, as well as monuments to several of Florence's greats, including Michelangelo, Dante, and Galileo.

Basilica is another basilica.. Walk round the back to the grave yard. It's fascinating and massive!! Mausoleum after mausoleum. Some old some new but 100's of them. This place had a strange atmosphere. A must visit.

Stunning church in a great square, with loads of monumental architecture and superb statues. Worth visiting to pay respects to some great Italians

A chance to pay homage to the tombs and intricate memorials to some very famous people including Machiavelli, Galileo (and probably his daughter) and Michelangelo (though he would probably be horrified at the sight of his monument). And don't miss the cloisters and the amazing Pazzi chapel. During the Covid crisis, visitor numbers are limited so expect queues, temperature checks and the enforced wearing of masks but the staff on hand are very friendly and helpful.…
