Palazzo della Signoria, better known as Palazzo Vecchio, has been the symbol of the civic power of Florence for over seven centuries. Among the works of art safeguarded in the museum: the Cortile di Michelozzo; Michelangelo’s celebrated Victory in the Salone dei Cinquecento; Donatello’s Judith in the Sala dei Gigli; the private rooms of the Medici court and among these the marvellous Cappella di Eleonora, the chapel with paintings by Agnolo Bronzino.

I have no words.......

I have no words to adequately describe this place. The art, the culture, the beauty of what you'll see here will simply overwhelm you in a way you've never before experienced.

We spent about 90 minutes for the basic admission, covering the ground, first, second floors and mezzanine, i.e. Not including the tower. Good explanations in English and Italian. So did not need an audio guide. We entered right at opening time and although we did not have a ticket for the tower there was already a long line to go... More

I visited the museum twice on our recent trip to Florence. Firstly I quickly walked through it to get to the tower then returned later with family to have a proper look around. What I thought was the quick route I'd taken to bypass the museum and head straight for the tower turned out to be the actual route. The... More

I loved the paintings that adorned the walls and ceilings of this former palace. Some of the sculpture was great too. Be prepared for poor signage. We wandered around looking for the entrance to the museum, which is nowhere near the ticket desk. I think this was one of those museums where you climb 4 flights of stairs to enter... More

In a city where you run out of superlatives, this is one of the best, as many other reviews attest. Priceless art, wonderful history, fabulous city views from top. Make time for this.

If you don't have a lit of time or need to limit your museums, this should be a MUST in Florence . It was breathtakingly beautiful. I have been to all of them and found this one the best. The view from up top is also great!

Staying in Uffizi

Neighbourhood Profile
Every visitor coming to Florence for the first time will immediately identify with Uffizi. As in past times, passing through Via dei Calzaiuoli, you can reach the city center, the Florence that everybody dreams of. In just a few steps, visitors can experience the rare beauty of the capital of the Renaissance. walking delighted across Palazzo Vecchio and overlooking Piazza della Signoria, up to the Loggia of the Uffizi where it is possible to fully taste the talent of the best artists who animated Florence over the centuries. When the sun goes down, there’s nothing better than a walk along the river Arno up to the ancient bridge, Ponte Vecchio. It is full of jewels and decorated by the colors captured in postcards.
