Good bookstore, native English-speaking staff!

A rainy evening in Florence drove us to search for shelter. The Paperback Exchange was perfect. The huge selection kept us browsing until the rain stopped. Also picked up some hard-to-find second hand books. They have a good selection of quirky travel guides for local sights. Great atmosphere!

A lovely little shop that is deceptively large and well-spaced out. You can browse for a good hour and there is even some seating if the person who accompanies you needs a rest. They have a good mix of new and used books, everything from fiction to textbooks, plenty of books on Florence & Italy, and very interesting children's books.... More

I went to Paperback Exchange the next day I arrived in Florence to buy some secondhand books and seeing the atmosphere of the store, I really liked it. Though the staff was helpful and nice enough, I found the books to be too expensive, I couldn't find a secondhand book less than 8 euros. But if you want to enjoy... More

Lovely bookshop down a small street near the Duomo. They sell books mostly in English and a good shop to browse. There are seats inside too encouraging you to spend time. Particularly liked that there were second hand copies on sale too and you can take your old books in and gain credit in the shop. There is also a... More

Tiny place, but great! You find a lot of good books, and if you wanna brush up in italian, they've got some italian books as well, not only books in English. Like the name says, you can trade in your old paperbacks for new ones, but if you wanna buy new books without exchanging them for others, you can do... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
