This is a lovely square, in front of the Church of Santa Maria Novella and a couple of minutes from the railway station. It is nicely designed, some greenery, seating and quiet in the middle of a busy area traffic wise. There are shops and...More

The piazza has the Basilica as the focal point, which is beautiful and worth going into. It is also surrounded by hotels, a museum, and restaurants. The restaurants are nice, as you can eat outside. It is a nice atmosphere. There is usually a guy...More

We didn't have time to go inside but we took some photos in front and in the piazza. For photo enthusiasts or people looking to take a good travel photo/selfie this is a great church to visit. It's just outside of the city center so...More

Not sure I'd call it an attraction, the church itself is really the attraction...don't expect much from just the square.

This is a quaint little square, not overran by tourists. It is spread out a bit, has nice cafés and outdoor dining areas. Nice little park in the middle. Worth taking a drink while in the area.

And there are several ambulances stationed near the duomo. And I began to understand why because after I climbed the 414 steps in the Companile (Bell Tower), I almost collapsed. Perhaps the ambulances were there to send people to hospitals. This being the first time...More

come across the constant hustle and bustle of the
station before exiting, taking a few steps and
stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It
is impossible not to admire the the square, housing
one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The
