Acclaimed since 1996 for our great guides and tours, we offer the original, small-group Best of Tuscany tour, as well as wonderful guided tours of Florence, Venice, Rome and the Cinque Terre. Our tours are high-quality, entertaining, informative and fun! We love sharing Italy on a more personal level and with our small group sizes, we refuse to make you feel like a tourist. Our highly-qualified guides are passionate, have a sense of humour and enjoy bringing history to life. They include historians, aristocrats, wine makers, art sleuths, well-known journalists, guide writers, as well as talented artists and authors. What’s more, we are an ASTA approved, fully-licensed tour operator. We promise we are anything but ordinary, and we guarantee we are the Original & Best.

I took the Florence in One Glorious Day tour, which is actually three separate tours with breaks in between. It starts with a walk through Florence and some of its most historic sites, then after lunch tours of the Uffizi Gallery and the Accademia, where Michelangelo's David resides. It took about eight or nine hours, but was a great way... More

My husband and I went on Artviva's Best of Tuscany tour at the end of March 2017. I would highly recommend this tour if you are visiting Florence and have time to see some of Tuscany. When we arrived at Artviva's office the morning of the tour, everything was well organized with little time spent in waiting to get started.... More

We had a 3 hour private Uffizi tour with the guide Hilda. Her English speaking was perfect. Her subject matter expertise was amazing. She began the tour even as we were walking from their office to the museum! Although we were exhausted by 16 hours of travel she was so interesting that we forgot about being tired for the entire... We picked this company because Rick Steves recommends it. Hilde was our very knowledgeable tour guide today in the very crowded Uffizi Gallery. A Belgian woman from Flanders, her English was easy to understand and her depth of knowledge about this collection, Florentine history, and the artists' lives allowed her to weave a narrative tale that kept our interest. We... More

Klass was an amazing tour guide for the Uffizi. He was so energetic and told such interesting stories behind the paintings. Definitely worth it to have a guide through this museum!

My mother, aunt, and I took four tours with ArtViva. We did the Uffizi and David tours with Brenda, the Florence Walk with Florimide (sorry for the spelling), and the Tuscany tour with Marissa. All four were absolutely wonderful. The guides were all very knowledgeable and passionate about art, the city, and the culture. They made me love the city... More

We are glad we decided to book the Uffizi Gallery tour with Artiva. The lines to the gallery were long. Doing the Uffizi on your own with so many fellow tourists seeing endless paintings, statues and other artwork can leave you bewildered especially if you are pressured for time. Our tour did not start off well. We had difficulty finding... More

We booked this tour to see David by Michelangelo after it was recommended by Rick Steves. We were not disappointed. Our guide, Klaas, made Michelangelo's life come alive as we walked through the streets of Florence. My husband and I were riveted. When we reached the end of the story, Klaas lead us around the corner and there David stood.... More

We were in Florence for a very short period of time and reached out to Artviva based on the reviews I have read. They suggested their Florence in a Day (or two) tour; three tours in 1.5 days. At check-in, the staff was very very helpful and accessible. We had three different guides. Every guide had their unique style. All... More

Let me state from the outset that I am not a fan of tours. You would not get me anywhere near one of those big buses, chock full of tourists being led around like ducklings by a guide holding a small flag. Despite my misgivings we were attracted to the Artviva tours because they seemed more personalized. Having spent several... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
