Old boys trip to Tuscany !!

Another tall building with lots of steps to the top, in better condition than the Guinigi tower. The view from the top just as spectacular though.

The old tower dominate Lucca and date of the XIII century and was the clock tower, but the watch hand dosn't work, now the doves has her refugium there; tourist can go to visit it, and must climb many steps, and admire the nice view over Lucca.

I climbed this on a cool morning and was delighted at the spectacular views. There were only a few others up there and we took photos for each other. There is enough room up top not to feel crowded. The bells are right there and the clockworks are right below. The climb was a circuitous route up stairs, then good... More

The steps up to the top of this tower were worth it for the lovely views across Lucca from the top! It's worth pointing out that you can get a joint ticket for this tower, the Guinigi tower and the botanic garden which is a bit cheaper than booking all three separately.

Unlike Guinigi tower the starircase is narrower and twists turns as it winds its way up the tower to reveal a great view of the chaotic rooflines of Luccas houses and other marvellous buildings and beyond

I have to admit that I did not visited the inner part. I just saw its exterior, but it seemed to me that there was nothing in special about it.

Not good if you don't like steps, and is it really worth it? There's a few small trees on the top. Personally, I was under whelmed. Good views if you like that sort of thing.

The famous Torre delle ore is a wonderful bell tower in Lucca and well worth taking the time to visit. However be careful, as there is another tower nearby with a clock set a little lower than this one which we mistakenly went to originally.
