We had a train to catch to Florence. We did not have time to go close by. Just a passing glance. We did not find it impressive.

The Piazza dei Miracoli is located in Pisa Italy. Pisa can be reached by train, bus or automobile. The train ride from Florence is about a hour long. Once you are dropped off in Pisa it is about a 40 walk to the Field of Miracles. Passing through part of the city as you walk is an exceptional exceptiona The Piazza dei Miricoli was coined by the Italian writer and poet Gabriele d'Annunzio. It is believed that soil from the fields at Calvary was brought to this site in Pisa during the Fourth Crusade. The piazza is owned by the Cathoiic Church. Tickets can be purchased in a building just south of the Baptistery. The tickets will have a timed entry. Climbing to the top of the Leaning Tower will cost 18 Euros, entering the Baptistry, cemetery and two museums will cost and additional 9 Euros. Access to the Cathedral of Pisa is free. I skipped the tower but thought the Baptistery and two museums were an exceptional value. Children under 8 years are not permitted and when you buy your tickets online or at the site, you are assigned a 30 minute time slot. Do not be a minute late for your climb. Once at the top you will notice that some rails are in need of repair. There are many open air market vendors and cafes which line the site. Yes, there are Dolce and Gabbana and Gucci knockoff.sepair, The Piazza dei Miracoli is comprised of the Pisa Cathedral (Doumo) 1064, the Baptistery which started construction in 12th century and it is where Galileo Galile was baptized, the Campanielle (Leaning Tower of Pisa which began to lean 5 years after construction began and has 297 spiral steps, the Camposanto Monumentale (cemetery which was completed in 1464, the di Santo Spirito which was built in 1257 and housed the sick, poor and. abandoned children of the time and the Palazzo dell'Opera is a complex of houses dating back to the 14th century and continuing to the 19th century. . Children under 8 years are not permitted and when you buy your tickets online or at the site, you are assigned a 30 minute time slot. Do not be a minute late for your climb. Once at the top you will notice that some rails are in need of repair, the containing wall is somewhat low and the tower bell is very loud. Tickets can be purchased in various packages to include the Duomo, Baptistery and other sites in Pisa. During the busy season those 30 minutes slots get booked quickly with tour buses. While you are there see the Duomo, Baptistery (the largest in Italy) and Campo Santo (cemetery). Did you know 53 shiploads of soil from the Hill of Calvery in Jerusalem was brought to The Field of Miracles. There are many open air market vendors and cafes which line the site. Yes, there are Dolce and Gabbana and Gucci knockoffs

The whole place is made of impressive monuments and wherever you look at, you feel like taking tens of pictures. Better to arrive early though if you want to avoid the hoards of tourists (even if Covid helps)

Piazza del Duomo (Piazza dei Miracoli) – most notable treasure of Pisa. Absolutely fantastic scenery. For €9 one can visit a Baptistery, Cemetery and two museums – Museo dell’Opera del Duomo and Museo delle Sinopie; Torre di Pisa would shred your pocket of additional €18 per person. Nevertheless everything is well worth the price. Plenty of tourists, clumsily pretending that they're trying to support the Torre di Pisa so definitely you won’t be able to take any pictures without a bunch of people in the background. It could have been lit better during the night though. Unfortunately everything is open only until 4.30 pm so one need to hurry.
