This castle and church could be easily missed, but they are certainly worth a bit of a side trip between the main cathedral area and the bus station. Free to look around and beautiful inside, don't miss it!

Quiet and peaceful Casa to visit the patron saint of Siena. Interesting to find out about her life and influences. The floors and artwork inside are beautiful.

We visited both sights, the Chapel of the crucifixion which was filled with art that depicted parts of St Catherine's life . Across the courtyard was the sanctuary. What a magnificent place. Beautiful art, the cross where she had her vision, painted ceilings and walls. As good as any church or cathedral we have ever visited.

Lovely atmosphere here, a kind of cloisters set beside the street of fabric dyers where St Catherine was born. Looking into her life, she was a very interesting and influential woman.

We did a quick stop here. The artwork in the little church is very impressive. One of my favorite parts was the sun rays coming through the painted glass over the door and magically illuminating the Madonna in the painting on the left side when facing the wall. Worth a visit and the fact that it's free is a nice... More

A visit to the Casa di Santa Caterina (St. Catherine) is a worthwhile experience and close to other sights in Siena. It is so much more than a home as the Casa has developed over the centuries. The architecture of the interior was stunning and the ceiling pieces and decorations were masterful and beautiful. Well worth visiting. ...

It's definitely worth a visit. in particular the chamber with the frescoes is something special and makes the visit worth it, give yourself time to appreciate it. the rest of the complex is fairly standard and you can go through it quickly

Saint Caterina’s home and birthplace is situated just a block away from the Basilica di San Domenico. The Sanctuary is a shrine to Saint Catherine and is located above the house where she lived and has precious works and records of the saint. The Church of the Crucifix houses the miraculous 12th Crucifix from which, according to tradition, Saint Catherine... More
