Absolutely gorgeous and filled wih history. Totally worth a visit. The church is beautifully painted and has many objects with religious significance. You can visit the tomb of Saint Claire, which is a moving experience and learn about her life and works.

In the main piazza a huge church of Saint Clair...easy to find and with plenty of views ,seating around the piazza bars and eateries..remember girls to take something to cover your shoulders as they can be a touch funny as it's not allowed ...

I wasn`t knowledgeable about St. Clare so was very glad to be able to see her church and know she was St. Francis`s first convert.

A simple church but what is holds is so important. Holy relics such as Saint Francis robes and Saint Clare's hair along with the wooden cross under which Saint Francis had his vision which is 800 years old! Can't help but be moved.

The simple gothic design of this church will make the visit worth it. Not grandiose like the other but it functions as a charity for the poor even to this day.

While lacking the grandeur and spirit of The St. Francis Bascilica, no trip to Assisi is complete without a stop at the church of St Clare. St Francis and St Clare--sometimes known as Brother Sun and Sister Moon--shared a common mission to minister to the poor and suffering. An example of Italian Gothic architecture, the church contains a number of... More

Very simplistic but beautiful church! The cross that changed St. Francis life is there and is stunning. Saw her crypt, her robe and even some hair of hers. Very moving to visit this church.

If your going to be in Assisi be sure to make the effort to attend morning Mass here at the Santa Chiara church. Mass times vary but mostly during the week days it's 7am. Ideally try to arrive around 6.45am so as to not miss the cloistered nuns from the Poor Clares and their Gregorian Chant singing. Truly wonderful.
