If you are here in Assisi to walk in Saint Francis' footsteps take the time to walk through the woods and experience the natural pull and feel of the area. It is inspirational and beautiful

this is a beautiful place not just to enjoy the beauty of nature but also where to relax and think in peace and quiet. The scenery is stunning. At the Terzo Paradiso you can also reflect on the meaning of the Land Art masterpiece by...More

This is a beautiful walk through woods. They ask an offering of 2euro per person. In the beginning there are 2 wonderful statues to inspire peace among people of all religions...these are beautiful. You then walk through the woods on a solid gravel/dirt path. This...More

It's a little-known fact that visitors to the Shrine of St. Francis can access the woods he and his companions roamed. Although it can be a physically demanding hike, it is a wonderful way to relax and process the experience of visiting Assisi.

Dear happytraveller575, we are very sorry that you didn’t feel sure and comfortable following our paths. Probably they were particularly unpleasant and slippery because of bad weather...we normally suggest comfortable shoes telling visitors that the path goes up and down the hills through the woods....More

Starting in the St Frances basilica, this walk (operated by FAI the Italian National Trust) takes you down a track with a series of fairly steep sections down to the river valley and the St. Croce church. You go for the cooling and varied walk,...More

the main walk leading to the Cathedral lasts 40 min one way, mainly in the shadow. The walk towards the "terzo paradiso" masterpiece lasts 20 min.
