Probably the most mystical place ever seen. The Beauty of the buildings and architecture, is overcome by the unique spirituality of the atmosphere.
Even if I am not religious I must admit that visiting S. Francis grave is an unbelievable experience. Something can't be told.

This basilica is on three levels. Siant Francils is buried at the lowesst level. The relics of his life are worth looking at.
Giotto has played a major part in decorating the churches in the upper levels.
The Assisi Basilica is worth the journey. It is best viewed in the evenings or mornings before the throngs of visitors arrive. There are also other sacred Saint Francis sites all worth seeing very close by.
