Caught a five minute cable lift (standing) ride the 1000 metres or so it takes to reach the Basilica of Sant'Ubaldo, a Roman Catholic church atop Mount Ingino, outside central  Gubbio. The church houses the body of the patron saint of Gubbio, Saint Ubaldo (the 12th-century Bishop Ubaldo...More

If you're brave you'll take the furnicular to reach the Basilica set high on the hill overlooking Gubbio's Old Town. The two person maximum, stand-in cage carries you away from the hubbub of the town and to the peace and tranquility of the Basilica where...More

We went up Monte Ingino by the Funivia, which was great fun. We wandered round to the Basilica and were admiring the beautiful stained glass windows, when a violinist started playing Ave Maria. We realised that the church was decorated for a wedding, which was...More

There is a cable car up to this Basillica. You still must walk a bit further up to get there. It was worth the climb. But I could not have climbed the whole way, the cable car made our visit possible.

Gorgeous church and home of the 3 Cheri's from the festival in May of each year. The views are absolutely stunning from the door of the Basilica. Do not miss an opportunity to visit.

This is a long hike up or a nice ride on the funicular. We chose the funicular. A pleasant surprise. Church is well preserved and mass was actually going on while we were there. St. Ubaldo is patron saint of Gubbio. The Cheri is kept...More

A visit to Gubbio without going up to the Basilica of Sant' Ubaldo is just wrong. The Basilica, along with the museum upstairs tells the history of both Sant' Ubaldo and the Festa dei Ceri... And the view from there is nothing short of amazing.
