Amazing History

A must stop to truly appreciate the history of the Roman Empire. Only negative is that all plaques are in Italian and not English but still worthwhile visiting.

I enjoyed this small museum. It houses an extensive collection of majolica ceramics (bigger than at the Palazzo dei Consoli) in the tower at Porta Romana. The entrance fee is small and it is well worth the visit if you are a fan of majolica. Also has a few other historical items.

I like the Eastern entrance because you can experience both old and new Gubbio here. The funivia is also close by, as is the Locanda del Cantiniere restaruant well worth a visit!

Porta Romana is is the sole survivor of the six 13th-century towers that guarded the entrances into the city. A small admission fee gains entrance to the museum of antique Umbrian ceramics housed within the tower. Because it is a tower, the ceramics are displayed on several floors of small rooms stacked one-above-the-other and connected by a steep, narrow stairway.... More

This interesting museum is housed in the tower of Porta Romana on the west side of the city. It contains a fascinating collection of ceramics, arms and other miscellaneous items, also providing an opportunity to see the inside of a gatehouse. Well worth the effort, furthermore entrance is free.
