Had a lovely sunny day here. Only problem is the parking- even outside the zoo the maximum parking time is 6 hours which meant that as we got there at 9.45am we could not stay for the sea-lion feeding time at 4pm and had to leave by 3.45. However, we saw the baby rhino only 5 weeks old, two baby... More

The current star of the Basel Zoo is a male rhino, born in January. Other recent arrivals are lion cubs and an okapi. Watching the seals perform for their herring attracts a large audience of families with young children. From spiders and tropical fish through elephants and giraffes, this zoo is a top local attraction.

One of the oldest zoos in Europe. About 22 euros is the entrance, but the oarking is the Real problem. It is expensive and hard to find in rush hour. Has quite attractions. Such as the penguins. If you are lucky, you will stumble around them. All the animals are kept in good conditions. About 2-3 hours was our time,... More

Such a great place to spend the day! Various species and well kept! A very nice way to relax in nature!

The Basel Zoo might be OK for families with small children. Considering the price of admission though, for teenagers and up it's a very small and uninspiring park. A disappointing experience.

A great few hours can be had at Basel zoo. Good location, we took tram 2 which stopped 15 metres from zoo entrance. A greater variety of animals than I anticipated, There was a 2 week old Rhino running about which was great to see. Viewing the animals was great as the zoo have made viewing areas large enough that... More

We came in the winter so there were barely any animals, they looked uncared for and there were no zookeepers in sight, all in all disappointing and waste of money...

I lived 8 years in Basel. I got myself an anual pass and came regularly. It really does not matter which season it is, or how much time you have. Its always worth to explore this beautiful zoo. Kids will love how close up you can get to certain animals. If you plan a longer stay, there is a restaurant... More

among the world zoos, the basel one should be considered as best...why? because you don't see one tigers but 7, not one elephants but five, not a few chimpanzees but two dozens. a very attractive place to visit.
