This is a special history of Basel and you have to take one. Before there were not so many bridges in Basel and faehre was the way to cross the river

A good old fashioned way to cross the Rhine River using the current. You also get to see all the lunch time swimmers floating down the Rhine with their Rhine Fish keeping their office clothes dry. A real spectacle.

To take the rheinfähre. It is like Mini holidays. So relaxing and a very nice atmosphere Eventhough for a few minutes.

A nice ride to cross the river. You can directly board the boat and then pay the boat man in cash. Make sure you carry change (1.20 franc approx per person)

The ferry in Basel runs every day (365 days/year) 9am to 8pm in summertime 11am to 5pm in wintertime

Yes you can take a pram. You may want to sit closer to the cabin for shade, and its rarely windy to the point that water splashes on deck.
