The Rhine current was so strong so if this little ferry didn’t have its pulley rope we would have been down the river in seconds. It was fun and a must do in Basel!

I liked the ship tour on the river Rhein. the weather was quiet windy, so that we enjoy journey from seats inside the ship, it was confortable.

There are 4 ferry crossing points, connecting Gross-Basel with Klein-Basel via the Rhine. Enjoy a short but silent trip, as the ferry-has no engine, just a rudder, floating on a steelrope and the current.

Free trip with the Basel card, less then 2 euroes without and just takes a couple of minutes. Interesting and fun though, good view of the city as you cross and I have not seen anything like this anywere before. well worth doing

From Sbb Train Station You can take the Tram 8, 11 until schifflände. About 10 minutes
