A lot to see and discover and a lot of walking paths. You could learn about the history of Bern through various landmarks and small museums and cobbled stone streets are classic.

2 or 3 days would be good but if you really want to relax and enjoy some of the fine eateries as well as soak up the atmosphere try for 4 to 5 days.

They have free rentals at the Banhoff (train station) with a deposit of 20 CHF or so. Biking and walking are great alternatives unless it is raining. Safe travels!
