Old Town is a fairly compact section of Lucerne right off the River Reuss. It is a nice mix of Medieval building covered with allegorical paintings , fountains and architecture. It is easy to traverse and dotted with fun restaurants, brewery/ pubs and shops.

I loved walking around the area, looking at the many murals that cover building walls. However, our full day there was a Sunday and the shops were closed. It looked like good shopping but I cannot confirm :-).

This was one of our favorite cities in Switzerland. A beautiful old town to walk around and soak in the sites. The views and sunsets from the bridges over the Reuss river was fantastic.

Very relaxing spot for a vacation. Lot of nice restaurants and cafes by the lake or bridge to choose from. Easy walking to everywhere and the train station is centrally located. Safe town, great for couple and families!

Very lively old town with lots of restaurants and excellent views overlooking Lake Lucerne. One of the spots for Bollywood movie shooting, if you like. Plan a nice dinner if you can or just walk around to get the feel of the place.

We did a walking tour with a guide. Great insight into the long, rich history of Old Town. Historic yet modern and traditional shops. Good cafes.

It is not something extra ordinary but like other old town in European countries like Germany. If you go Lucerne it s worth to see Shops , restaurants , cafe you can arrange for lunch or dinner there. And window shopping.

Many picturesque and historical buildings and sites within the Old Town. Do check out the Musegg Towers north of the main tourist sites, as they are worth exploring and provide a great view from their towers.

Hello, I am planning to visit Lucerne this coming May. Will a puffer jacket, a light sweater and a pair of walking rubber shoes be suitable for a walking tour around the town?
