Overview
More
Mount Rigi's majestic peninsula on Lake Lucerne is the perfect setting for an authentic Swiss mountain experience with unforgettable views of over 13 lakes and the spectacular snow-capped Swiss Alps. Located in the heart of Switzerland, Mt. Rigi can be quickly and easily reached from Lucerne and Zurich. It is the Swiss people's favourite mountain destination, can be accessed via Europe's first ever cogwheel train (est. 1871) and is renowned for its numerous cogwheel railway and aerial cable car routes. You can visit Mt. Rigi 365 days a year and there's plenty of outdoor action on offer, including 120km of hiking trails. The numerous lookouts, delightful terraces and the Mineral Baths at Rigi Kaltbad also ensure there are plenty of opportunities for rest and relaxation on the Queen of the Mountains.

You get good views from here. Go there only if you have sufficient time to explore the surroundings. Otherwise, there is nothing much to do. It can be a whole day trip.

We went by train then funicular to top. Good self service restaurant at top. We then descended by funicular , then gondular, taking a paddle steamer across lake Lucerne to the city. Excellent day out.

The day we went it was very cloudy, so we couldn't really enjoy the true views. All that said it was beautiful and we enjoyed walking around. When the sky did open the view down to the lake was incredible.More

Make sure you check the weather, plan and pick the right day. We were unlucky as it was cloudy throughout and we missed the beautiful views but were able to imagine what we missed. The food at the restaurant located at the summit was amazing.More

This place is surreal. The whole view from rigi kulm.and via the train leaves you spellbound. You feel how can nature be so so beautiful. You must go here. Half a day is suffiicient for this place.

The route to mount Rigi is as much it's attraction as is the mountain itself. The route is very scenic. We took the river cruise up to Weggis. From the Weggis waterfront, b it's a 15 minute up hill walk to the cable car station....More
