Well worth the nominal fee to take the gondola up. Bring a picnic and a book, or hiking shoes and refreshments. There is a restaurant at the top with the great area for families. As a solo visitor, wonderful hiking trails well marked (fine for English speakers) the views were breathtaking! Absolutely a worthwhile visit in the summer.

My husband is very fond of Switzerland and we visit this country very often. This place is nice and beautiful! Also, I like swiss villagers' averageness, it is very different from posh cities like london or paris. You feel good about yourself in here.

It takes about 3 hours to get there from the main cities like Bern or Zurich but it definitely worth it. The best way is to park the car in village, get up by cable car and walk down .. Amazing scenery, fresh air and a lot of nice pictures.. Very nice activity for a day! The last cable car... More

In gstaad you can go to Egglie or Wispile and the trip to Wispile is worth the extra effort and extra ticket money. breathtaking views and without all the crowds. We loved it. For a time my wife and I were amongst the very few on the top of the peak. It was awesome. we will definately go again. The... More

Wispile doesn't have as many run options as Eggli, however it's still a great mountain to ski/ snowboard on, whatever level you are at. There is one slight downside, it's the main hub where Gstaad's ski school takes place, so if you're adventuring the mountain alone the little ones can get in the way now and again.

Take the lift to the top of Wispile, then either the red or black slopes. Have fun on the 'rollercoaster' piste (as we like to call it). Brilliant fun after a fresh dump of snow. Probably only for advanced skiers (from the top), but intermediates should be fine if they get off half way up (which they can do).

With fantastic weather, the view is fantastic too. Went for a long walk with the dog on a well maintained walking path, made by a skislope grooming machine. The path goes all the way to Gsteig, or one can cut across the snowfields to walk down to Lauenen, for which snowshoes or touring skis are required. I took the Lauenen... More
