Really nice off the beaten path hike

We hiked from Bussalp (arr by bus) to Faulhorn through beautiful pastureland full of wildflowers, to a chorus of cowbells echoing off the valley walls.

We were looking for something less taxing, so took the Postbus from Grindelwald to Bussalp, had a nice coffee and then hiked for about 2.5 hours to Bort, and then some of us took cable car while others continued by foot to town.

Bussalp is a half-hour bus-ride up from Grindelwald. Everybody seems agreed that the bus-fare is wickedly expensive, but if you are not able to walk or cycle then there is little choice, the road is not open to cars. (Even if it were, just think whether YOU would want to drive it.) The view from the top should help you... More

I finally convinced my wife to go sledding, she wasn't to thrilled about going but that changed after this experience. We stayed in Grindelwald for the 2nd xmas in a year and we were lucky enough to get tons of snow on Dec 26th, the 27th was breathtaking with snow on all of the trees and village. So we ventured... There are few ways to get to Bussalp, the easiest being by bus from Grindelwald, but this is also the most expensive. The most difficult route, but the most rewarding, and free, is by walking from Grindelwald up through the forest to the Aellfluh mountain hut, then on a good track up to Bussalp. It takes about 3 hours. Alternatively,... More

We hiked from First --> Bachalpsee --> Faulhorn --> Bussalp and unfortunatley due to weather saw little to nothing. Good excercise though! Be warned if you plan to bus back to Grindelwald its 22CHF per person if you don't have a discount card (50% off, available at trainstation). Otherwise its a 2 hr walk down.

Extend the easy walk from First up the pass and over to Bussalp (with an optional detour to the Faulhorn or not). A little bit more 'up' but well woth it for the views. Check the bus times from Bussalp (back to Grindelwald) before you set off - though there is a small hostelry if you have to wait!

This is a short bus ride and from Grindelwald and there are several easy walks to pick up the Firstbahn or to go further.

Well sign-posted from Grindlewald station, the trail takes you to the Bussalp Restaurant in 2 to 3 hours of hiking through fabulous scenery with great views of the surrounding mountains. The terrace of the restaurant overlooks the Eiger, Munch & Jungfrau. The perfect place for a drink and to soak up the views.

Go to Bussalp! We're not big skiiers, and the sledding here makes the winter outdoor experience fun and exciting for everyone. The sledding is exhilarating, and you can stop anytime to enjoy the most beautiful views in the world. The first time you go, the logistics can be a little confusing, so let me give a quick overview: Buy a... More
