Grosse Scheidegg can be reached by bus from Grindelwald and is a great bus journey in itself. There's a restaurant by the bus stop, where a meal or beverages may be shared before walking across an easy path the First, about 1.5 hours. The walk can be made longer by doing the Marmot trail, which is clearly marked, though marmot... More

In winter this is the place where you can start many downhill trails and pistes. You can go to Wengen or Grindelwald, enjoying the view of the majestic mountains. In somber, this is a very crowded place because it is one of the stations on the way to famous Jungfraujoch, "the top of Europe", predominantly visited by tourists from Asia.... More

We walked there after staying the night in the hotel at First. Good scenery and views back to Grindelwald but also to the next valley as it is the watershed.

Take the bus up and have quite a few hiking trails to choose from. Nice walk up to First. The view is as always in this region wonderful.

We wanted to walk from Grosse Scheidegg to First / Schreckfeld. But the road after the Hotel Wetterhorn is closed to cars so the only way up to Grosse Scheidegg is by bus (Grindelwaldbus). We didn't have a Swiss Pass so we needed to pay full adult fare and that was about CHf 36 each, return. The car park by... More

Lovely walk to here from First cable car. Restaurant available and the Postbus comes regularly for the ride back to Grindelwald. The bus horn is amazing on the corners.....and there are a lot of corners. The walk is fairly easy past Alpine meadows with cows etc. We were fortunate to hear the ice flow cracking and a large shower of... More

Well, its just a must for classic rail fans and Eiger history fans. Be warned, it can be a very busy train interchange with tourist crowds. Worth a stop off for mountain views, photos, walks and refreshments before going up to Jungfrau. Rail tickets best with discount cards.

Gorgeous views from up here. Take the bus from either Meiningen or Grindelwald. We like to bus to the top and then walk down to the Rosenlaui gorge (about 1-1/2 hours). You can catch the bus from there. It is an easy and not scary downhill walk.

Grab some salami and cheese and bread and head into the mountains... it's simply the prettiest place I've visited. I think it'd be impossible to get lost and water bubbles clean and clear from the ground to drink.
