I was looking forwrd to visitng Lugano and especially San Salvatore. So glad I managed to do it despite of the rain. The views of the lake and the surroundings are one of a kind. There are labels with viewpoints, a restaurant, a museum, you could make shortr or longer walks in the wood, or sit for a picnic. Really... More

We walked up to the summit from the mid-station of the funicular, then continued to Morcote via the Parco San Grato gardens. In May 2017 the summit at San Salvatore had an interesting display of historical tourist posters, themed around the use of the edelweiss to promote events in Switzerland.

Absolutely stunning place to visit! The funicular ride is quite nice and on top you see an amazing scenery. We visited on a cloudy day yet it was still fantastic. Especially the clouds below and around us made it quite spectacular. There is also a restaurant on top that seemed to be quite popular among locals. And looking at the... More

Take the mountain train to the top and have a nice stroll to see the stunning views around Lugano. Must not miss it. If you have a Lugano Ticket or Swiss pass, you can get a discount on the tickets.

Don't miss the San Salvatore cable car to the top. You'll experience spectacular lake views. Although a bit expensive, it's worth the ride.

The 1.600 m long funicular railway from 1890 will get you to the top of the 912 m high Monte San Salvatore which is located in Paradise, a suburb on the west side of Lugano, Switzerland. The 12 min. steep ride, which costs 26 SF for a round trip, departs every 30 min. and after reaching the top will reward... More

Take the funicolare to the top of Lugano an enjoy gorgeous sightseeing up to the highest alp mountains. Buy a single ticket and make a walk from Salvatore to Ciona or Carona. But don't forget good shoes.
