We followed Waze which took us up to the parking lot. A sign showed one parking lot to the right, and another to the left. It did not explain the difference, nor were there any other directions on what to do, or where to go...More

After many, many years visited the Grande Dixence again. Despite the cloudy weather we much enjoyed the time here. Early spring alpine flowers in abundance. And lucky us - we spotted alpine animals (marmots and deers) too, and at this time of the year hardly...More

It's really huge, impressive! The best time to visit is late August - September when the lake is full. It is possible to make an easy hike flat along the lake (~2 hours) or more challenging via mountains (4h). Easy to get there by car.

The Grand Dixence Dam itself is not very interesting to me, but the surroundings are great for a long and challenging hike. We started at the Dam and took the "SENTIER DES BOUQUETINS". The first part, to the Cabane de Prafleuri, is a quite challenging...More

What a great place! Free parking. Start with a cable car journey to the top of the dam (10fr or 7fr one way) and walk along the top and around the lake. Find out about the dam from the information boards located around the site....More
