This is an amazing picturesque castle located on Lake Geneva, just past Montreux. Not overrated at all! It’s a great way to spend a few hours, and most of it is indoors so a good alternative if the weather is not friendly. The tour is self-guided and easy to follow using the pamphlet you get at the entrance. It is... More

We walked from Montreux to the Chateau and got a train back (train station about 5 minutes from Chateau although trains only hourly). This Chateau is well worth a visit. We used our Montreux Riviera Card to get a 50% entry fee discount - so it was only 6 CHF to see. The route through the Chateau is well marked... More

A must see ... Even my seven year old daughter enjoyed exploring the castle ... it's what you always see in films ...

Definitely worth the visit! The castle on Lake Geneva is understated from the outside. Once you begin your audio tour inside you really gain an appreciation for castle life a few hundred years ago. The castle inside is enormous, the architecture is amazing and history well worth the visit. My six year old son loved it!

Nicely described thousand years history of the palace. 6 swiss frank was well spent for audio tour. Staying in Montreaux for two days, walking next to the lake was perfect.

I took uber from the hotel which was very convenient except the driver doesn't speak or understand English barely but trip was brief so I didn't mind at all. The Chateau was a must see place in Montreux but if you are travelling alone, it's a bit scary. They converted downstairs supposedly old prison cells to winery and viewing areas... More

This is now one of my new favorites!! A very well preserved and restored castle with a stunning backdrop of snow capped peaks and the clear shimmering water of lake Geneva. The visit comes with a pamphlet giving you info and directions so you don't miss anything and rooms are full of exhibits and stories. Lovely beach near by for... More

My first castle and I wasn't disappointed. I was by myself so I got to take my time touring everything. Gives you a glimpse of how life used to be. The views were amazing. The only thing I would caution about is the steep staircases when you get to the last portion of the tour....steps are very steep and there... More

It was the only rainy day of my whole two week holiday and the only opportunity to visit the chateau. I waited for a break in the clouds and set off at a fast pace along the lake from Montreux, stopping occasionally to look at the spectacular scenery and sculptures. A few hundred metres from the chateau, the heavens opened... More

This is a beautiful but somewhat small castle - not as grand as some of the others in Europe but it's very well-preserved and fun to visit. They give you a map with about 25 specific places to go in the castle and each one has a nice exhibit with information and/or artifacts. Families with kids could probably stay here... More
