This church is distinguished by its large clock face. It is visible from the mountains and across the lake. Itis one of the prime monuments of Zurich city and provides a good photo opportunity. There is an entrance fees to this place.

Oldest parish church in Zurich dating from the 9th century, St. Peter's boasts the 19th largest permanent working clock face in the world and the largest in Europe. During the Reformation, the pulpit and baptismal became the focal points of the church and other adornments were removed. No admission charge.

Beautiful to see, and has history, but just another average church. If you only take pictures of the outside you aren't missing anything.

St. Peter's Church is one of the four main churches in Old Town Zurich. It is the oldest parish church in Zurich - with the original 9th century foundation walls still directly beneath the altar area. The ownership of this beautiful church (tower) is a little confusing though. The City of Zurich owns the church tower, with the largest clockface in all of Europe, while the Swiss Reformed Church owns the belfry, bells, and the staircase leading to the tower!

While the outside of St. Peter's Church might appear plain, the interior is exquisite. With rich wood adornment offsetting the cream-colored baroque walls, crystal chandeliers, an impressive pipe organ and choir loft, and a Bible verse high above the pulpit, we found this church a place of peace, calm, and perfect for spiritual contemplation. It might have helped that we were the only ones in the church, except for an organist practicing for the upcoming Christmas services. Wonderful interlude in the busy Old Town Zurich.

Stunning clock towering over St Peter’s Church and the city skyline.

Inside the church I would say ok at best, very basic with no highlights or wow factor.

Take the photo from outside of the clock Tower and keep moving.

The church itself is not impressive, nothing special. But of course the 8,7m church clock is somthing to see.

While this edifice was consecrated in 1706, its antecedents extend back many hundreds of years. On a hill it has an imposing position over the old city.

Another of its famous aspects is that it possesses the largest church clock face in Europe.

Furthermore, interestingly, the tower had fire duties till 1911. A situation common in many cities, as these were normally the highest point in a city and thus fires could be spotted early and dealt with before devastating an area.

St. Peter's Church is visible from all over the town along with other two Churches of Fraumunster and Grossmunster, making it an important and distinctive part of Zurich panorama.
It has the biggest clock face in Europe, but I found it very simple and nothing extraordinary.
Moreover, the interiors left a pretty disappointing impression when we entered.
The Church is on Limmat's right bank, on an elevated position near the Lindenhof view point, so be prepared for some walking uphill.

The clock face is definitely huge. It actually helps orient you to getting to the old town. I loved the walk in this area. Really worth the time.
