Clearly, the Protestant Reformation was keen to ‘correct’ all the Catholic opulence at the time. This Church is very solid, plain and unadorned. Only open to serious worshippers, we admired its simple exterior. It boasts none of the gorgeous charm of churches in Venice or...More

Beautiful church in Zurich, right by the water. There is a crypt in the basement of the church that is really interesting.

The Wasserkirche is a church built on a small island in the Limmat, situated between the two main churches of medieval Zürich, the Grossmünster and the Fraumünster, at the Limmatquai and the Münsterbrücke. It seems likely that the original building was used for cult meetings....More

Wasserkirche(=Water Church) is located right next to River Limmat. Easy to reach when you are walking along River Side towards Lake Zürich and Tram Stop right there too. On one side of the Church you can find famous Zwingli Statue

Worth to visit if you want to experience the Zwingli / Lutherian spirit. Church is very focused on telling the word - with ist little interior there are only few other to focus on. Also nice, if you can hear a concert.
