Great collection of Groningen art. Good explanations on the audio guide, which was sometimes a bit tricky to use. The building itself is one of a kind and will not appeal to everyone, though it did to me. Not to be missed when visiting Groningen.

Quite small museum and besides a few nice paintings not much special in my opinion. Also very noisy for a musuem. Could not listen to the music which was played in a certain area due to the guides talking very loud to their groups
Impressive temporary exhibition. Small But Good local collection. Nice impressionists international and local and country. Very interesting. Also the other pieces. When You love Ceramics Njoy.
Excellent museum of art with changing temporary exhibitions of modern art. The staff is very helpful. The design of the museum converts the museum itself to a piece of art. Special educational programmes for children.
We enjoyed both permanent and temp collections, which are quite sizable. Our favourite was the porcelains and Delft blue collections from China, Japan and the Netherlands. We also joined the special excursion to Borgens (estates) outside of Groningen. It was a good half-day tour on...More
I visited the museum with my friend. The great news many may not be aware of ... if you study in Groningen, you get a free admission! The museum displays both old and modern art. I particularly enjoyed very broad exhibition of Maarten Bass.
Groninger Museum is a must see when visiting. The architecture is amazing, make sure you see all the passages and rooms. There is a lot of modern art, check for exhibitions before going. It si very close to train station, recommended when visiting from Amsterdam.
While we could only persuade one of the teenagers to join then we had an interesting 3 hours exploring the museum. We especially liked the diversity of the museum with something for everyone, classical art, history and indeed very challenging contemporary art. Worth a visit
