My Niece had never been to Amvsterdam before so I took her on a boat tour. The staff was very professional and you were able to listen to an audio discussion of the highlights and the history of Amsterdam. We very much enjoyed this trip. I would recommend it be on your list.

We travelled for free with the iamsterdam city card, but would definitely pay to go again. Great way to see the city, lots of hidden gems are seen from a new angle! Each person gets a set of earphones and has the tour translated to their language, so it was mostly quiet on board which was nice. Lucked out with... More

We did a wine and cheese canal tour and had a great time! The wine flowed freely and my husband and I each had about 6-7 glasses. However, we know we are Americans and it is a quirk we have, but we didn't love that we had to sit with other couples. If you are going to market a candlelight... More

We really enjoyed the 8.15pm canal + pizza cruise with Stromma. Relaxed and chilled, very well organised, and a hit with our 13-year old. Really recommend this cruise, and the 8.15pm departure gave us the opportunity to see the canals at night - spectacular. Do it.

We did the Wine and Cheese tour on our first night in Amsterdam. I would highly recommend doing a canal tour in Amsterdam as it is an easy and exciting way to see so much of the city. The Wine and Cheese tour is offered at night so it was beautiful to see the city all lit up while enjoying... More

8 of us went for 6pm canal and pizza cruise. This included choice of pizza, alcoholic/soft drinks and a Ben & Jerrys Ice Cream. This was a relaxing way to see the city and a good way to learn the history of the city. Book in advance as very popular especially if weather is good or weekend.

I'm not really into this kind of tour but tought it'll be fun to see Amsterdam from other point of view. It was sunny afternoon perfect for taking photos from the boat. Audio guide talked about Amsterdam neighborhoods and their history which i found interesting. Definately one of the best memories from Amsterdam trip :)

As we were with friends that had done the cruise before we quite fancied this and it was great we had a really good time. We ordered our pizza at the start of the cruise and flavour of Ben & jerrys and half way around the route guys on bikes come down from the New York pizza co delivering the... More

It was a lovely day with sunshine and we sat down on the Gray Line and had the tour that took about 90 min. Definitely worth it as you got a different view of the city when traveling under all the bridges and seeing all the beautiful houses along the canal.

With so many canal cruises to choose from, and lacking research and time, we leapt onto the nearest available canal boat. The English commentary came complete with American accent, and given its location next to Central Station, the target audience may be day-trippers. It was sufficiently informative to enhance the trip, but very disappointing that only a couple of the... More

Staying in Centrum

Neighbourhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
