It has been mentioned it numerous other reviews, it is a gathering for tourists from all around the world to congregate and take selfies of one another. There are a few bars, restaurants and shops situated on the perimeter of the Square - other than...More

Fun fair going on at the time we visited... Centrally located and so many coffee shops, bars, restaurants and landmarks are also in walking distance.

The visual effect is beautiful; however, there was little that stood out aside from the architecture. It's a highly congested area with a mix of residents and tourists navigating about

I as here in the 70’s when the hippies congregated there. Today it’s a empty square and the monument is more of a meeting place four visitors than anything else.

Great spot, vibrant, alive, many cafes and bars, plenty of great food venues. Also great place to sit and watch the world go by! Loved it.

Stayed on dam square. It's the best place in Amsterdam to stay in my opinion. I've stayed in various places. There's always something to do.

Dam Square has a great deal of architecture with some lovely looking buildings, just a shame there were so many people making it difficult to see and difficult to get around. Found some interesting museums in Damm Square, well worth visiting.

Compared to other squares in other cities, Dam Square is big, loud and full of pickpockets. The New Church and Royal Palace (Town Hall) are there, so you'll likely pass through it, but the square itself is nothing too special.

A delightful place to have a cappuccino and watch the myriad off people drift by. There is an air odd pleasantries generated by the openness of the space and mixture of activities.

Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of
tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists
and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the
best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe.
Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops
of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones
Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods
such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring

I also agree with Dutchtraveller007.. i'd like to wonder off to hidden gems Amsterdam has to offer. But in just one day seeing all seems impossible. Anne Frank house is a definitely must see! If you aren't lucky the waiting... More
