Kalverstraat is regarded as the longest shopping street in Amsterdam. It is long narrow street with a range of shops, cafes, eateries. A lot of the shops are aimed at tourists hence the fast food outlets, bakeries, cheese shops and souvenirs. We did try a...More

There was a time, long ago, that the Kalverstraat in Amsterdam was the premium shopping street in the Netherlands. The Kalverstraat even was the most expensive street in the Dutch version of Monopoly. But I think that the Kalverstraat has been eclipsed by better shopping...More

H&M, FootLocker, Zara, C&A, Primark, they're all represented on the longest shopping street of Amsterdam. I spent an enjoyable hour or two browsing the shops and making a nice buy. Rounded it off by returning with tram 2, the stop located behind the royal palace,...More

Long narrow pedestrian street runs from Dam square to Munt tower & the flower market. Can get very crowded & seems predominantly to have cloths, cheese & shoes shops.

Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of
tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists
and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the
best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe.
Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops
of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones
Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods
such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring
