The Flower Market is an open air area of stalls along a pleasant canal. Mostly bulbs and souvenirs. Nothing special to go out of your way to see.

Lots of flower stalls that sell bulbs and souvenirs. The variety of bulbs and flowers is definitely amazing. However, we found only 1 stall that sold bulbs that were certified to take into the U.S. Fortunately we purchased them here because these were 10 euros...More

As a genuine travel agent reviewer, this market was very disappointing. Only fresh flowers were in 1st and last stalls. Lots of souvenirs, some quite tacky, lots of bulbs, wooden tulips, silk flowers, marijuana in tins. Went to take photo in last stall of fresh...More

Unless you want to buy bulbs don't make a special trip. Stroll though on your way to somewhere else if it "works". Stores selling usual tourist crap. Nothing special.

We had thought that this would be a place of great beauty with lots of flowers for sale since the Dutch are so known for their flowers. Very few flowers to be seen. Lots of stalls with gardening hard goods and bulbs.

Purchased many bulbs here. When opened... Mostly rotten bulbs which do not match packaging. Pack of 2 alliums turned out to be a rotten allium bulb with a random other bulb and a pack of sand to give the bag weight. Don't waste your time...More

Our hotel was near the Bloemenmarkt so we walked through it on several occasions & each time I enjoyed looking at the variety of fresh cut flowers & bulbs on offer. Yes it is touristy, but it is still lovely to admire the variety of...More

This is a row of about 10-12 stalls that at one point, perhaps 30 years ago, was selling only flowers. Today, there are flowers in the front rows and the back is flooded with tourist merchandise, from t shirts to souvenirs. Nothing that Dutch about...More

Some of the stalls were interesting but most were repetitive and predictable with tourist gifts and gimmicks, the surrounding food shops were also overpriced.

We did enjoy our walk in the flower market, but it was a bit more touristy than we had hoped. It is beautiful and worth the trip. I'm glad we went, but know that this isn't exactly an "authentic" market feel.

Amsterdam you're looking for while roaming around the
Grachtengordel (Canal Ring). A brilliant place to get
lost in a moody meander and a key component to any

I was there in 2014 and the same happened to me - all the bulbs I bought was just the cheapest standard red tulip - and not the special ones pictured outside the tulip bags!! Nothing has apparently changed in 2017! I even wrote the City Council back in 2014 and the promised to do something about it - but apparently they did nothing... My advice: Don't buy tulips there - go to a real garden center!

@186337Mark - If you read my comment better, you will read that I did not buy cheap ones, but special ones - but what was INSIDE the bags - and came up in my garden - was standard cheap red ones. Dozens of others have posted... More
I was at the Flower Market on Monday afternoon going in & out of the flower & souvenir shops. I saw a scarf/pashmina that I liked but did not buy. I can't find the sparkly I AMSTERDAM scarf online & I don't know the name of the shop. Do you think you can help me locate the shop? I am back in the states now.
