In the heart of Amsterdam's bustling centre lies one of the city's oldest museums: Museum Our Lord in the Attic. Here visitors get to experience the Dutch Golden Age in a special way: a 17th-century house with a top floor converted into a Catholic church.

It's a very interesting and new concept to me - A House Church! It's the first time that I came across this concept. One could easily miss the entrance as the entrance looks so modern. However, through a passage way, one actually walked across to...More

The stairs can be challenging, but not more than other buildings in Amsterdam! This incredible building is immaculately preserved. Go all the way up to the top level for a fantastic view! Excellent visit.

I went to this museum specifically because I was intrigued about the hidden churches in Amsterdam. The church itself was interesting, and I also enjoyed the other floors which gave you a snapshot of Dutch life. I think this place is well worth a stop,...More

My daughter and I had a 5 hour lay-over in Amsterdam and made the trip into the city centre especially to visit this museum; we are so glad we did. Situated in the red light district, it is an easy 5 minute stroll from Centraal...More

Lot of climbing in confined spaces. Interesting enough to see, very religious themed. Some Dutch history provided re Protestant/Catholic era. About 3 or 4 floors.

A real gem! Audio guide that comes with the entrance fee was very informative. The church in the attic was a sight to behold. So rich in history, and well restored to reflect the period when the church was in use. Easily an hour spent...More

What an interesting place in a unassuming house. The 'Our Lord in the Attic' was mesmerising to see - up on the 4th floor and a steep climb. But what was interesting to me was how the family in the house lived in the rest...More

Exceptional museum. So unusual and extremely well done. I would recommend this for all to visit. Informative on Dutch life in by-gone days. Gave you a 'feel' and an understanding of how life was.

This is an amazing place! When Catholicsm was against the law, people in Amsterdam built hidden churches. This tour starts in the basement and you walk up until you finally get to the attic, where a complete Catholic church appears. It is beautiful! There is...More

To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the
Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its
saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to
view some of the city’s most picturesque canals,
historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples
of traditional local architecture – not to mention
Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist
temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some

Yes 1 hour will do it. We bought Iamsterdam card so we had a lot of museums to visit. You could linger for longer if desired. Check out my 5 day itinerary for other places to visit. If travelling with kids the Science museum... More

Hi, the previous answers cover it - good recorded audio explanation in English. I needed some directions to locate the building - it's right down in the red-light end of the street. Have a great time!
