We did a Saturday night Pizza Cruise. Not a bad value...about 40 euro each for adults and 25 for the kids, and for that we got a tiny explanation of the canals (captain said about 5 sentences at the beginning) and some NY-style pizza. All the wine, beer, soda, and water was included, and unlimited. The downside was we had... More

Perfect duration tour. Central trip start location. Short drive from Amsterdam Central to the tourist windmill village in Gray Line bus and an enjoyable guided tour around. Amazing guide who answered all of your questions. The trip was done in English and Spanish I though that was a huge plus. He changes it depending on guest nationality. Visited cheese factory,... I took the cruise from Central Station, which lasts about an hour. The audio was great and the views were wonderful. A much better experience than the Color Cruise on a competitor's boat. Great way to see the city.

Went on a canal tour on our last day in Amsterdam, buying tickets was easy and reasonably affordable. The tour was excellent, seats comfy and tour guide friendly. The only problem was the audio tour they offered, it was often saying things when we were not near that landmark. Apart from that, it was an excellent experience and I would... More

45 minutes around the central canals. warm and cosy. We were given a couple of hot toddies before we set out. pity the windows were too dirty - the view would have been better.

This was the basic tour without wine or food, which I think would have been an unnecessary distraction. Tour started on time, canal boat captains were skilled in the maneuvering of the boat as well as timing to see the lights. Worth the time and money.

It was a lovely tour outside of Amsterdam, though it was a cold and foggy day. The tour to Edam, a cheese-making factory was nice. We got to taste a variety of cheese and bought some as well. Volendam visit felt rushed and didn't actually get to visit the town proper. The windmill farm was also kind of rushed though... More

A lovely relaxing way to see Amsterdam. You are provided with access to a audio tour in 8 languages. The tour last for approx 1 hour. I suggest you book prior to ensure you get your desired time slot.

Well after a bit of digging for details which DFDS did not provide we made it. Excellent night with my wife on this canal trip. We were made to feel very welcome and the 20year old boat captain was very good at his job. Very good value for money.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
