As with the other canals that we walked along and travelled along by boat, this canal has so many magnificent house built along its length, you are better taking a canal trip to get the full description and the story behind the houses.

The Herengracht (Gentleman's canal) has some of the nicest canal side buildings in Old Amsterdam. Definitely worth a stroll

The Herengracht was where the most wealthy Dutch citizens of the 16th and 17th centuries lived. It's lined with stunningly beautiful historic homes...classic examples of older Dutch architecture. Watch out for the bicycles as you take a leisurely walk along this gorgeous canal!

Really enjoyed our lunch in this restaurant. Looks small on the outside but is very large inside. Nice buzzy atmosphere and friendly staff. Nice menu with lots to choose from and a good wine list. Can highly recommend.
