Was out exploring Amsterdam while we had some time before boarding our tour boat and I stumbled on this tower that looked like a church at first.

This tower is one of the tallest buildings around the central canal. The square where it is located is next to the Amstel, very busy and full with tourists.

Munttoren or Munt is a tower on the busy Muntplein square, where the Amstel and Singel canals meet, near the flower market. Munt means Mint (as in coins). The bells chime on the quarters.

Located next to the floating flower market and at the top of what is probably the busiest shopping street in Amsterdam - the Muntplein is a busy tourist destination. To really enjoy the tower one has to look up as the ground floor is taken...More

The tower is a good landmark at the end of a shopping street. Top section looks nice but the lower part is given over to a Delft Blue pottery shop.

We got to see this whilst taking a canal cruise but you can walk to it. It's has a good story about it if you take a tour boat.

This Tower has quite a history, first a main gate of Amsterdam in 1480 then a guard house in 1618 when a severe fire occurred, then rebuilt and used to mint coins in 1700. It does stand out when you're in the area and there...More

This is a very busy intersection, but traffic lights make it safe to navigate. The tower is impressive upon approach, looks well maintained, and is art of the scenic appeal of walking around Amsterdam
