Not my thing

The location is easy to find. Take the bus 32, 33, 34 or 35 from Central Station only one stop or just walk 10 minutes to the museum. The exposition space is quite big, some... read more

This museum was a disappointment. It seems that conceptual arts have ceased to shock or challenge or engage the viewer in a meaningful narrative - all we are left with are tired cliches, white walls, babbling videos and inconsequential artifacts.

This gallery is perfect for any artists or art enthusiasts concerned and interested in contemporary Dutch and international dialogue. The gallery offers both local work and international. The work is both conceptual and aesthetically strong and has an array of mediums. Easy to find about a couple of streets down the train station (Amsterdam Centraal).

I had found the advertisement for this Art Centre in the city with a picture of a piece of taxidermy on it (it was of the head of a peacock with the body of a penguin) and it really interested me. After a few days of trying to find this small little space, I got a chance to visit it.... More

The concept of conceptual art is perfectly clear to me, but during the famous Amsterdam MuseumNight De Appel did not had a clear proposition regarding modern art. There weren't any description available on the art shown and it was really, really to conceptual.

Visited here on my last day in Amsterdam. Wow! Great space, brilliant work, nicely displayed. Just very very good. Saw quite a large solo show by british artist Michael Dean and a small Laurie Anderson installation. If you are really into contemporary art this is a must-see. Also has a very cute cafe downstairs that we didn't have time to... More

The location is easy to find. Take the bus 32, 33, 34 or 35 from Central Station only one stop or just walk 10 minutes to the museum. The exposition space is quite big, some floors, modern and very bright. It's well tight, big room, less things. I was there for "curiousity" exposition. It is really a place for contemporary... This was defiantly the best and most interesting museum in Amsterdam. We went here just hours before we left the city. And If I had knew that I had missed this museum I would had been more that disappointed and have felt the need to return just to go here. The exhibition was a combination of different art forms, video,... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
