Came here for a beer after a wonderful meal at cafe loetje. There was no music on but it has a nice atmosphere as it is mainly locals. Had a great beer then enjoyed the walk through the museumplein back to leidseplein. Worth a wander.

Discovered this excellent 'proper' bar up the road from our hotel. Only had drinks but we had a wide selection of beer and wine. Visited with/without our wives and met some lovely chatty people. Busy bar and you are either visible or invisible - whichever...More

Excellent for a quiet drink in a small well loved room. Slightly rough around the edges but friendly. Absolutely not trendy in an affluent area.

Tucked out of sight, yet three minutes walk from Concertgebouw and five from the Van Gogh Museum, Cafe Welling might be called a cafe but is basically an old-fashioned street corner pub, rammed with old furniture, cosy chairs, a pub cat, beer on tap and...More

Just came for a coffee with friends. It was not english friendly and the barman was rude. And comes from a person that doesn't like to complain

Staying in Museum Square we were delighted to stumble across this amazing place purely by chance when the snow prevented us from venturing further afield on a Friday night. This bar is a traditional Dutch bar serving good beer. Everyone else appeared be locals calling...More

We were staying in the neighbourhood for a few days and stumbled across this little bar; it became our "local". It is located just behind the concert hall but isn't that easy to spot. However, it draws a good crowd of, what seemed to me,...More

Mostly filled with regulars we were welcomed with a selection of draft and bottled beers. The barman was friendly, the beer was good and the company excellent. What else could you want from this quiet little bar tucked away behind the concert hall. I understand...More

We chanced on Cafe Welling in a guidebook. The description of a traditional bar with a friendly resident cat won us over as did the name. As a former football journalist, I had the pleasure of covering Welling United for a while. I'd assumed the...More

Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part
of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh
Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed
museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you
need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the
Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark,
the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand
