Very friendly welcome, and fun way to be educated about gin distilling. It was quiet when we were walking round, so plenty of time to enjoy, listen etc. Would have been very different if it had been busy ... Like while sitting enjoying our cocktail !

A quick, modern, self-guided tour that dives I tot he history of Bols, the company that invented the predecessor to Gin (geniever). The hands-on parts make it interesting. Test your sense of smell, by blind guessing at the estimated 50 flavors they make. Make a video of yourself doing flair bartending. See how light, motion, and sound changes the flavor... More

Interesting and the booths towards the start are clever. It could've done with more interactive activities during the tour but good overall. Lovely cocktail each at the end.

I booked this event online before i went to Amsterdam and it was €18 each (i think!). You walk through different rooms and it shows you how the alcohol is made etc, and at the end you get to sample a cocktail of your choice in the impressive bar. This is something fun you can do as a couple or... More

this place is really cool, they show you how everything was made and then let you try and smell the different ones they make. WE stayed after and paid for a few more of the drinks as they were all great.

So you could queue for ages in the cold to visit the Van Gogh Museum or you could walk across the road straight into a surprisingly interesting exhibition charting the 400 year plus history of Bols and their drinks. Get to the end of the tour and find the ticket includes one cocktail - and you can get another for... More

Tour was really interesting. Best part is the chamber you enter. You drink a shot, and for the next 60 seconds you are vibrated around a dark room with a trippy flashing light effect. Memorable if nothing else. The bar at the end of the tour is gorgeous and they have a great gift shop where you can get, amongst... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
