This is a nice place if you like a walk of an hour or even more. The first open part with a lot of heather can be quite busy with people walking their (free running) dogs, but when you walk further to the south you can find some nice wood areas that are much quieter. When you take the full round you can easily walk for an hour or more.
Especially nice in spring and summer or in winter with snow.

This is a very beautiful place to enjoy the nature so close to the city center! You can enjoy it by walking running cycling or horse riding. There are also lots of places for the kids to play. If you get tired there are many benches to sit and enjoy the scenery. Do not forget to go there if you visit Hilversum.

This is a treurt beautiful part of Nature which is accesible by foot (walking or running) bike or horse! It stretches around the city of Hilversum by the so called Voetstappenpad (indicated with signs and approximately 25km long) there is also cattle (highlanders) and rabbits to be steen IF lucky. You can go there anytime during the day!

There are too many people in Holland yet the Hoorneboegse Heide is wide open with forested areas as well as lots of horizon. I remember cycling through here 30 years 50 years ago, then with children and now with grandchildren.
So where did the star go? It got stuck in the dog poo. Pick it up!

The one place near Hilversum where you'll find a very large open area and you are allowed to walk your dog without a leash. We can't complain about the 'Zuiderhei' and the 'Westerhei', but there you'll have to stick to the outskirts of the heather when you won't use a leash.
