Good history of the region both covering 17,18 and 19 Century located in the former West Friesland government building which has its own history. Also English narrative cards in rooms.

Too bad that nobody ever mentioned Hoorn as a destination, perhaps it is overshadowed by Alkmaar or Amsterdam. To me, Hoorn is a hidden gem of the old traditional Dutch and I can still feel the atmosphere there. It was the major harbour town during...More

The Westfriesmuseum has a lot to offer. The building itself has a lot of character. The paintings and artefacts are from different eras and the temporary exposition was very good. We would visit it again.

Spent a full afternoon exploring the history of the city I was born. Because it was not that crowded I could walk my own pace and make the best of the day.

Great photo exhibition about 'Verlanders', descendants of VOC employees in Indonesia, South Africa and Western Australia. The audio tour makes it very worthwhile.

Highly recommended to visit. The place fully describes how a Dutch house looked like in times of Ost Ind Company. We were simply amazed.

I enjoyed learning about the Dutch East India company and how the civic leaders of the five major cities ran the whole company.

Hello, there is mention of booking the virtual tour in advance, prior to arrival at the museum - however I do not see this on the "English" version of the Westfriesmuseum website. Can someone direct me on how to do this? Thank you from Canada!
